The sculpture is a three dimensional map, to scale, of the Grand and Credit watersheds linked by a small and insignificant rail line once operated by the Credit Valley Railway, which has now become the Elora Cataract trail. A section of the Credit River and Grand River are built of cedar for it's flowing and twisting wood grain, its ancient history in the area, and i's natural preservatives. A tree, when alive, is always growing. In a similar way a river, as long as there's water, is also always going. The structure is built of pin and tendon construction and aims to re-create, as close as possible, a section of the rivers and their important tributaries. The ½ inch iron rod bends and snakes from one wood structure, up over the escarpment and down the other side to reach the other wood structure. Though the escarpment isn't visible the lavational climb of the railway, or trail, reveals this unique and ancient rock formation. While trailing between the two water sheds the rail line reaches a point were water divides to one direction, the Credit, and the other direction to the Grand, This point is located on the sculpture by the centre pillar in the gallery.
