aluminum and wood, [ 76 inch diameter x 12 inches ]

A large paddled wheel made of recycled wood was constructed and mounted on an axle. It was then subject to the pouring of 185 pounds of molten aluminum at a steady rate. The wheel burst into flames as it picked up speed, the forces drew the molten aluminum through the wood grain. The aluminum stiffened as it cooled revealing frozen water-bead like shapes engrained in the wood. These particular set a circumstances were set up like an experiment, of which I observed first hand and documented. The wheel rests charred and cool. It is not simply a relic now, of the process it has withstood, but residue of an energy transfer to which I am so deeply concerned.
