Mapping and Burying a 10 Mile Hike
Big Bend, 2003.
Chromagenic prints,
11 x 14 inches

In search of attempting to express an overwhelming experience, I headed to the West Texas desert again. I wanted to explore my experience of the desert through map making. I hiked, and drew my walk as a map with charcoal on paper, and documented each landmark in drawing and with photography. Once my travels could take me no deeper into a narrow canyon, it became my destination, where the map was then buried. The photos were then simply arranged chronologically in the gallery. No heat, no sand, and no map.
